Why is wealth inequality a problem? Well, when you've got 1 percent of your population with 40 percent of ALL THE MONEY IN THE COUNTRY it certainly will cause a dilemma. The remaining 99 percent of people are unable to make the proper amount of money that they could because it is all being hogged by that top 1 percent. So let’s say that the bottom 99 percent of people all work and (ultimately) make 40% of america’s money. Thats great right? Since 1 percent of the pupulation has 40%, then 60% is left for the rest of the people to make. Now the problem comes when that 99% works enough to earn MORE than their 60% share. What happens when 99 percent of americans have all worked hard enough to deserve, let’s say, 70% of the money? Well, the extra 10% that they deserve is unfortunately in the hands of the top 1%. Thus they will not get that money that they earned. Now that is where the problem comes in. Don’t you see, when the 1% hog all the money, it actually caps the amount of money that the other 99% earns. When that cap, that limit, is reached, i expect riots if i were to be honest.
Food truck owner The average food truck owner makes about $240,000 per year. That’s more, far more than the average primary care doctor!

Bippity Boop my economic status is poop So how does one escape that position? And what are the factors involved? Well first off, it's very hard to escape poverty. And there are hundreds of factors involved when it comes to whether or not one releases their poverty bound chains. It could simply be due to your lack of intelligence, lack of effort, or your boss could just hate you and not give you that raise that you need. And what really sucks is most people will view a poor person in a lower opinion, thus it is hard to get hired in jobs because an employer will typically
Is the American Dream alive? (In general) Personally I think the dream is still alive It is definitely not as easy to acquire as it was a few decades ago, because there are rich people controlling the money and where it goes. Because of the hoarding of wealth, it is now much harder to be even middle class in this country. Truly though, the main factor in achieving your american dream is where you start off in society, whether it’s in poverty, middle class, or upper middle.
Can people of color achieve the American Dream? While it is possible, this achievement is extremely difficult (statistically 16 times as difficult as it is for white people) for them to accomplish. Considering the amount of oppression, imprisonment, wage gaps, and differences job opportunities that people of color have to fight through, it is damn near impossible for them to acquire in today’s society.
How is our economy doing and what is the outlook for the next three years?
Based on these few economic factors, one would conclude that our country is doing pretty swell
Based on GDP:
Our economy is doing pretty swell based on gross domestic profit, considering our current GDP is about 18 trillion, or 50 thousand dollars per person
This is a 2.1% increase since 2016. More = good!!!
If we look at unemployment rates:
Our unemployment rates are actually quite exceptional as of 2017.
The national unemployment rate is 4.4%, which is good because the healthy average of unemployment for a country is 6.7%
How about inflation?
Last looked at on may 12, the current inflation rate is 2.2%, a healthy value for a country’s annual inflation percentage
We’ve been selling homes, too!
Since last quarter, we have sold 621 thousand new homes to people.
This is important because that is a 4.4% increase since we last checked home sales
Who’s in poverty?
As of 2015, when it was last checked, the poverty rate in America is 14%. While this may not mean the economy is lacking, from an outside perspective it is quite confusing to see a rich country with such a high number of people in poverty.
Who still believes in the american dream?
1: Nikki: “To have a family, to give them a proper home, and to be able to provide them a proper education.” —Nikki, Yazoo City, Mississippi
To give a family a proper home and education. This girl i would say is optimistic about the American dream because she states that is is still around.
2: Cesar: “To make money, raise a family, and to be safe. I was born a mile from here in Juarez. I don’t want my child to face what I had to face. I want the best for him and my wife.” — Cesar, El Paso, Texas
To give your child a better life than yours. This man is optimistic because he doesn’t imply some sort of deadline, he just states that the dream is to give your kiddos a better life.
3: Karen: “The American dream is dead, because we don’t have any values anymore. People only care about possessions, about things, about money, not happiness. Happiness comes from caring about others, about family, and about community. I have cared for and buried most of my family, and it has cost me. But it has been worth it.” — Karen, Tallulah, Louisiana
This girl is mad bashing on the American dream. She is completely pessimistic, and states that it’s not all about family anymore, it’s about materialistic gain
4: Jose: “To live a successful life on your terms, to be accepted by others on your terms, and to accept others on their terms.” — Jose Villa, La Villita, New Mexico This man is saying that it’s all about individual preference. If you feel you completed the american dream than you did. Quite optimistic.
5: Chaka: “I don’t believe in the American dream anymore. Nothing comes by just being here. You got to focus on bettering yourself and your family, by hard work and education. Be yourself, be true to you, not some dream, but you.” — Chaka, Albany, New York
Be yourself and be true to your family. Not necessarily optimistic, but also not entirely pessimistic.
6: Enrique: “I have nothing. But I am free because I have God and I can pray.” — Enrique, Albany, New York
This guy is saying he doesnt need materialistic possession to complete his dream. He’s mad optimistic.
